That’s because, according to the National Weather Service, it wasn’t a blizzard since it didn’t pack winds of at least 35mph for 3 hours or more. That’s funny… we’ve had blizzards with less snow than we got over this weekend. Turned out to be a record for the NYC metro area which got over 2 feet of snow. We got about 20 inches.
Despite the snow, it was another great weekend. On Friday, Jason turned 18 and the Christian rock band he’s in, Humble Offerings, had its first concert outside of their church. It was at a pre-Valentine dinner in Woodcliff Community Church. The band sounded good and a large crowd of their friends turned out. My dad came to watch them and wish Jason a Happy Birthday…. so did Mickey (Jason’s godmother) with her husband, Vincent. It was so good to see them together again considering all they’ve been through. When the lead singer, Adam, introduced the band, he mentioned Jason’s birthday and everyone sang "Happy Birthday". It was really nice to hear. Afterwards, he went with some friends to have dinner at Outback Steakhouse then watch movies at Ricardo’s house. I dozed off on the couch waiting for him to come home… he may be 18 now but he’s still my kid. I never sleep well when my kids aren’t home.
Saturday morning, I woke up debating the wisdom of agreeing to work overtime that day. I was soooooooooo tired but the money’s well worth it. I worked from 9am to 4pm and got home as it began to snow. Later, I began watching "Sin City" with Clara but didn’t get to finish because Spice had to get her walk. The bit that I did see looked good so I’ll make sure to watch the entire movie soon. When I went out with Spice, it was snowing heavily and piling up. Jason was working at a restaurant in Scotch Plains (his bandmate, John, is a waiter there and asked Jason if he wanted to work busing tables) so I dozed off on the couch waiting for him again… LOL.
Woke up early Sunday morning to the sound of thunder which was weird to hear when there’s snow falling. Had some fun outside with Spice although she really didn’t care much for the snow drifts. Jason was on the computer pretty much all day and Clara was in her room watching movies and cuddling with Tommy who came over from work the night before. I spent most of the afternoon on the phone with B. Unfortunately he didn’t get the package I sent him even though the Post Office scanned it as being delivered.
Can’t wait to see him on Friday.
